IDS 2891 Connections classes I teach

Topic: Internet Research Strategies

This course is designed to help students develop the basic information literacy skills necessary for college course work, general research, and for lifelong learning in an information-centered society. Coursework focuses on using the Internet as an information retrieval tool and teaches strategies for locating and analyzing information that often has no indication as to its authenticity, validity, and reliability. Information literacy is an essential competency in the current environment of ever-increasing technological change and the resulting information explosion.

Topic: Digital Citizenship

This course promotes concepts of digital citizenship by empowering students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in digital spaces. Students will develop an understanding of digital citizenship by exploring topics such as digital and information literacy, appropriate and responsible use of technology, etiquette, online safety, and private versus public information.
