Theme: Civil Rights and the Strategies of Art and Labor 

  • February 1-28, 2025, Ybor Library Black History Month Exhibit and LibGuide – After viewing the exhibit students can put their name in for a drawing to win a prize. 
  • February 4, 2025, 11:00AM – 3:00PM – Black History Month Kick Off Event – Featuring the Tampa Bay Tech Band and an Andikra Symbol Workshop featuring Professor Omar Richardson in the Ybor Courtyard.*  
  • February 11, 2025, 11:00AM- 12:15PM – Civil Rights Interactive Panel featuring Dr. Ray Arsenault and Professor Richard Smiley, moderated by Dr. Keith Berry in the Ybor Room.  
  • February 18, 2025, 11:00AM-12:15PM – Black History Month luncheon: Brandon Martin: A Voice of Justice in the Ybor Room.* 
  • February 20, 2025, 11:00AM-12:15PM - “One Love,” the story of how reggae icon Bob Marley overcame adversity, and the journey behind his revolutionary music in the Ybor Room.* 
  • Feb 24, 2025, 11:00AM-12:15PM - The History of African American Labor in Tampa featuring Dr. Evan Bennett in the Ybor Library.  
  • February 26, 2025, 11:00AM-12:15PM – Make Your Passion Your Business: Black Entrepreneurship featuring Ersula K. Odom in the Ybor Library.  
  • February 27, 2025, 2:00PM-4:15PM – “Summer of Soul” a film exploring the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival in YSSB 307-308 and Ybor Library raffle drawing.
