A poster presentation highlights special aspects of your topic. In this case you can present a brief biography of your subject and her contribution to women’s history. Display a profile photo of her, and possibly another image of her in her work or for what she is known. Timelines, charts and other graphics are visual elements that can be added to enhance your poster presentation.

Design practices

  • Organize the layout of your poster to follow a sequential order from left to right and top to bottom.
  • Broadcast a descriptive title that is large enough to read from a distance.
  • Consider your audience. Present at their level of understanding. What do you want to say and what do you want to display?
  • Less is more! Use concise and clear sentences.
  • Use headers, bullets, and graphics to separate text.
  • Select images that are relevant to your topic and visually appealing.
  • Remember to include citations (references) and your contact information.
  • For those times when technology fails, have a backup copy of your presentation.
  • Practice, practice, practice.
