HCC's Online Article databases allow you to search in smaller, more specific collections than the Library Catalog. You can find articles by searching with keywords. Use the options to find articles. You can access these article databases with an HCC ID. See the Home tab for details.

How to use Opposing Viewpoints database

A quick rundown on databases:

  • The library's main search engine is the catalog.
  • Catalog search results other than print books in the library, such as eBooks, articles, and online videos, are pulled from individual databases.
  • In most cases, your library research should include searching one or more of these databases in addition to the catalog.
  • You can easily access the databases from the catalog. Refer to the steps below.

How to get to library databases

Step 1.

In the course menu for one of your Canvas courses, find and click on "HCC Libraries Online".

Step 2.

Click "Open in New Tab" when prompted.

Step 3.

Click on "Databases A-Z" at the top of the library catalog​​​ page.

Step 4.

Browse the list of databases for one that suits your needs. The databases are in alphabetical order to easily find a specific one.

Step 5.

You can also narrow the list down by subject or database type by clicking on one of the dropdown menus at the top of the page.

Step 6.

You can also select a database from the list of Popular Databases on the right side of the page.
