African American Review – Essays on African American literature, art and culture. Contains interviews, fiction and poems.

The Black Scholar – African-American essays on a broad range of issues of concern to scholars in sociology, history, literature, political science, health, art, women's studies and ethnic studies.

Black Warrior Review – Poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art by Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners alongside up-and-coming writers.

Callaloo – Articles and thematic issues devoted to creative works by and critical studies of black writers in the Americas and Africa; studies of life and culture in the black world and visual art.

Journal of African American Males in Education (P) – Advance scholarship and practice on African American males in education.

Journal of African American Studies (P) – Multidisciplinary forum for social scientists engaged in the analysis of the struggles and triumps of black males. Challenges stereotypes and identifies strategies and policies that can counter the problems black men face.

The Journal of Black Psychology – Articles, review articles and book reviews focusing on psychology and understanding experiences and behavior of Black populations.

The Journal of Negro Education – Research on the progress of black education; professional education as well as social sciences, physical and natural sciences, the arts and technology concerned with the successes, virtues and problems of black education.

Journal of Religious Thought (P) – Advances knowledge and share the results of scholarship in the field of religion; focusing on issues pertaining to ministry of the black church and related aspects of the black religious experience.

Kola (P) – Literary journal of the Black Writers' Guild.

Langston Hughes Review (P) – Discusses the writings of Langston Hughes, including books, poetry, drama, autobiography, history, fiction, prose comedy, juvenile literature, librettos, and black gospel song-plays.

The Negro Educational Review (P) – Scholarly articles and research; analyses and descriptions of societal problems; significant compilations and creative works related to black people.
