HCC Libraries and the Ybor Music Department are excited to be a part of a summer program bringing Traditional Japanese Music to the Tampa Bay area. Led by Dr. Joseph Amato (Yokohama, Japan), the workshop-style concert will feature Japanese traditional music and musical instruments, specifically the 13-string koto (Japanese harp) and the more modern 17-string koto through solo/ensemble performances.
All performances are free to the public and all ages are welcome. Here is the slate of upcoming concerts:
Tuesday, June 21

Participants will have the opportunity for a hands-on experience and a final Q&A at the end. Additional artists include: Yuuji Mitsuta from Delray Beach, FL on the 13-string koto and Zachary Niederhauser of Tampa, on the 17-string koto. This project is funded under the provisions of the Library Cooperative Grant program awarded to Tampa Bay Library Consortium, Inc. Florida’s LCG program is administered by the Florida Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.
