HCC now has a seed library on each campus! Head over to your campus library to check out seeds. The HCC Seed Library program is funded by HCC Sustainability.
Started in Fall 2017 at the Ybor City campus library, the HCC Seed library started humbly in a six-drawer vintage card catalog as a project between the HCC Sustainability Council and the Ybor library. Not unlike a seed grows, so to did the seed library. In 2018, the Seed Library expanded to SouthShore campus library and each location served it's local community by offering seeds for check out & return (if desired).
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the seed libraries were closed as the college campuses closed. Upon reopening, the campuses have gradually returned to "normal" and the libraries having been bringing access and services back. We are pleased to announce that as of 2022 the Seed Library is back and bigger than ever with a seed library location at each HCC campus library.
It is worth noting the seed library would not be possible without the support of the Sustainability Council, the Sustainability Coordinator, staff, and interns, as well as the librarians and staff at each campus library.
