This guide was created for you, a student in Professor Nolasco's ENC-1102 class...to help you with your Personal Development Research Paper.

You can jump right in and start with some quick links below ... or click the tabs across the top to access more resources and tips for each topic as listed in your assignment! Good luck, and have fun!

Dream Job

Start by choosing and researching a career of your choice in the Occupational Outlook Handbook Online. This resource gives an overview of the career of your choice, the education required for that career, the pros and cons of the career, the salary you might expect to earn, and links to professional associations. If owning your own business or working for yourself is your dream, type self-employed in the search box.

Study, Study, Study

Use Peterson's College Search to find the right college to continue your education after you leave HCC, based on academics, location, costs, campus life and more. If you will not be attending another college, research a company where you hope to be employed someday. A good place to start is the company's website. In your favorite search engine, type about and the name of the company or institution—this will usually lead you to the "about us" page of the organization.

Location, Location, Location

Find your best place to move in the United States—or the reasons why to stay where you are—with Sperling's BestPlaces. If you're moving to a foreign country, try Transitions Abroad (click Living Abroad).

Home Sweet Home

When you find your ideal "hometown," Trulia.com will let you explore the cost of buying or renting in that area.

The Perfect Match

For this one, we suggest going right to the page of library resources on this guide. You can also try some Smart Googling on your own!
