Scholarship Guide

Purpose: To provide financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college students pursuing a major in fashion and/or graphic design.

Awards: $1,000 to be applied towards school tuition and fees

General Eligibility Requirements:

Must be of at least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity
Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled fulltime at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full- time, associate/bachelor/master degreeseeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year and pursuing a major in fashion or graphic design.
Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
Family members of Board members are ineligible

The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation, with the support of the American Academy of Chefs (AAC), is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships annually to students:

Apprenticeship program - up to $1,500
Certificate programs - up to $1,500
Postsecondary degree programs - up to $2,500

Scholarship deadlines are April 30 and October 31 of each year.

Established in 1991, the scholarship program assists aspiring and established culinary professionals who plan to further their education at a licensed or accredited culinary school or hospitality institution, college, or university. Since then, the program has not only grown in visibility and financial scope, but in the array of subjects its recipients have embraced. As of 2022, the Foundation will have awarded nearly $9 million in financial aid to over 2,000 recipients.

This year JBF will offer three basic types of Awards:

Scholarships: Cash grants applied to tuition (and sometimes other school-related expenses)
Tuition Waivers: Tuition waivers granted by educational institutions, which are renewable in some cases
Work Study Grants: Grants for working culinary professionals under the auspices of the Jean-Louis Palladin Professional Work/Study program
International students may qualify for many, but not all, of our scholarships, and are encouraged to apply.

Megan Springsteel was a beloved daughter, sister and friend that left this world too soon. She had a great passion of making people look great and feel good about themselves though the hair industry.

While some view cosmetology careers as unstable or risky, the sector is currently growing. With 622,700 current hairstylists and cosmetologists, the field is expected to grow by 19% by 2030.

This scholarship seeks to honor the life of Megan Springsteel by supporting high school students who are interested in pursuing cosmetology.

Any high school student who is passionate about pursuing a career in cosmetology may apply for this scholarship.

The Open Door Scholarship Program 2024-2025, funded by the Florida Department of Education, is designed to support students completing short-term and technical education credentialing courses. The goal of the program is for participants to successfully attain a workforce certificate in high-demand fields. This addresses and closes the gap between the skills needed by workers in the state and the skills of the available workforce in the state. The Open Door Scholarship Program covers 100% of the cost associated with the approved courses listed below. Funds from the program must be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees, examination, books, and materials.
